Synovus Announces 1Q Here Matters Award Winner

Royd Williams, a Wholesale relationship associate in Birmingham, is our 1Q internal Here Matters award winner! Each quarter, we recognize a Synovus team member with an extraordinary community outreach story. We're proud to recognize Royd for his dedication and contributions to the Birmingham community. Always willing to volunteer his time, skills, and resources to help others, Royd was described by his nominator as someone who has been actively involved in every Here Matters activity in the Birmingham market since joining Synovus in January 2020.

Earlier this year, Royd approached our Birmingham team members about participating in an event called Spike Your Sneaks. The event was held on February 19, in conjunction with Trak Shak, Eco Sneakers, and the local NFL Players Association chapter. Spike Your Sneaks invited the Birmingham community to donate "used, not abused sneakers" that would then be refurbished and given to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham.

Thanks to Royd's efforts and the generosity of our Birmingham team, Synovus was the top donor of shoes during the event!

As the winner of our 1Q Here Matters award, Synovus will donate $500 to a charity of Royd's choice. In addition, Royd will be considered for our 2021 William B. Turner Community Impact Award for outstanding philanthropic contributions or hands-on community service.

Here’s to Royd and his commitment to making a difference in the Birmingham community!

About Here Matters
At Synovus, we express our commitment to communities through Here Matters, our community outreach program. Here Matters builds on a century-plus legacy of service to local communities as the bank of here, focusing volunteer and financial contributions in three areas: education, needs-based opportunities, and health and wellness. Synovus team members demonstrate Here Matters through footprint-wide projects in the spring and fall — and through rapid response to event-driven needs.
