Synovus Names Tom O’Connor as Nashville Market President
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 30, 2022 — Synovus Bank today announced the appointment of Tom O’Connor as its Nashville market president. O’Connor succeeds Rob McNeilly who recently retired. McNeilly will remain on Synovus’ Nashville Advisory Board.
O’Connor will lead the company’s commercial and middle market banking teams in delivering financial solutions to business clients throughout Nashville.

Before joining Synovus, O’Connor served as Middle Tennessee market president at CapStar Bank. He served in various roles at Truist for more than 20 years, such as market president in North Raleigh, North Carolina, and Houston, Texas, spending most of his career in middle market banking in Atlanta and Nashville markets. O’Connor is a graduate of North Carolina State and holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He currently serves as president and board member of the Tennessee chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. O’Connor also serves as a board member of Middle Tennessee State University’s Economics and Finance Advisory Board.
