Anne Fortner

Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer

Anne Fortner is executive vice president and chief credit officer. She was promoted to the role in March 2025 after serving as senior vice president and deputy chief credit officer for Synovus. 

Fortner is responsible for establishing and advancing credit organization initiatives and objectives in support of the enterprise strategy while ensuring the company stays on top of trends and market conditions to guide credit practices. She oversees the asset quality of the balance sheet, implements the administration of loan policy and governance processes, and directs the monitoring and measuring of credit risk through analytics, thresholds and limits to maintain credit risk within appetite.

During her 17 years with Synovus, Fortner has held various positions, including executive director of credit risk management and leading credit for the wholesale bank. Before joining the company, she served in several commercial banking capacities with SouthTrust Bank and its successor, Wachovia.
