I’m excited to share this recipe for pupusas in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Growing up, eating pupusas together were some of the most memorable moments for me and my family.
When times were hard for us, my mom made pupusas to brighten our day and it always did! Mom shared stories from her childhood about making pupusas with my Abuela and then passed the recipe down to us. By passing down this part of our culture, she taught me how to make pupusas, too, to an extent.
Because I was born in America, our Salvadorean traditions can easily be lost or forgotten, so eating pupusas always reminds me never to forget where I come from. I hope you enjoy this recipe and make it for the people you love!
