Frequently asked questions about the Refer-A-Friend program.

  • When will my friend and I receive our $50 incentive bonuses?
    • If the friend or family member you referred opened a Budget, Plus or Inspire checking account, completed five (5) debit card transactions within the first 60 days, and their account remains in good standing, you and your friend will each receive $50 within 120 days of opening the account.
  • How will I receive my incentive?
    • Synovus will deposit $50 into your checking account and your friend’s new account within 120 days of account opening, if all qualifications have been met.
  • If I choose text message as the way to Refer-A-Friend, what number will the text come from?
    • If you choose to Refer-A-Friend via text message, you will receive a text message from 29244 with instructions to forward the referral image to your friend or family member. This way, they will see the referral come from a familiar source and not have to worry about this offer being fraudulent.
  • Can a current Synovus Checking client (Non-Budget, Plus or Inspire) be referred as part of the Refer-A-Friend program?
    • No. Current Synovus checking clients are not eligible for the Refer-A-Friend incentive.

You can open a Synovus Plus, Inspire, and Budget checking account online or at any Synovus branch. Once you’ve met the qualifications, a $50 reward will be credited to your new account.


Digital Referral – Terms and Conditions

The person making the referral (Referrer) must be at least the age of majority (18 except in Alabama where the age is 19 unless you can verify that you are a member of any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States), and will earn a $50 cash bonus (a Reward) via direct deposit to their Synovus Checking account for each individual (Referred Person) the Referrer refers to Synovus Bank who does not already have a Synovus Bank checking account and opens a new Plus, Inspire, or Budget Checking account with a minimum opening balance of $100, and completes the other requirements described herein. To make a referral, the Referrer must register for the program online at http://synovus.royalreferralcenter.com (the Official Means of Registering), agree to the Terms and Conditions, and submit a valid email address and phone number for both the Referrer and each Referred Person. A Referrer may receive no more than (10) direct deposit Rewards (for a total of $500), and only one Referrer may receive a cash bonus for each Referred Person that fulfills the requirements (the first Referrer who enters information for a Referred Person will be the eligible Referrer). The Referred Person may also receive a one-time incentive bonus of $50 for opening an account and completing the requirements and may also be eligible as a Referrer.

Referred Person
To earn $50 cash via direct deposit, the Referred Person must:

(1) meet Synovus Bank’s requirements for opening a Plus, Inspire or Budget Checking account;
(2) open a new Synovus Plus or Inspire Checking account within 90 days after receiving the email or text offer through the Official Means of Registering for this offer;
(3) keep the new account open and, along with all other Synovus accounts and loans, in good standing (as determined by Synovus Bank in its sole discretion) for at least 60 days; and
(4) within 60 days of opening and funding your account, you must complete 5 debit card purchase transactions (signature or PIN transactions only—ATM transactions do not count toward the 5) with all 5 transactions posting successfully to your account.

Other Important Information

Reward: If earned, incentive payouts will be posted up to 120 days after the requirements are met depending on when the account was opened and the transaction requirements are met, and will be in the form of a credit to the new checking account reflected on your statement as “checking incentive”. The Referred Person acknowledges that a Reward will be issued to the Referrer after all conditions have been met. The Reward will be direct deposited into the Plus Checking account only. Synovus Bank may report the value of the Reward(s) to the IRS. You are responsible for any tax due on any amount received which is considered miscellaneous income and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-MISC. Anyone whose tax status would require Synovus Bank to impose tax withholding of any sort will not be eligible for a Reward. This offer is non-transferable, may not be combined with other offers and does not apply if the Referee is already an owner of a consumer checking account (primary or secondary) with Synovus Bank. Employees of Synovus or any Synovus affiliate company are not eligible for this promotion as a Referrer.

Email Address: When opening a Synovus Plus, Inspire or Budget Checking account, the Referred Person must provide the same email address entered in http://synovus.royalreferralcenter.com.

Deposit Account Disclosures: All Synovus deposit accounts are subject to approval. Additional terms and miscellaneous fees may apply. Please refer to Schedule of Fees and Charges for pricing information that can be found online at synovus.com/personalbankingsofac, or you can request a copy by phone at 888-SYNOVUS (796-6887).

Opt out: The Referrer authorizes the sending of communications to each Referred Person. The email may not be recovered if the person has “opted out” of marketing material from Synovus or http://synovus.royalreferralcenter.com. Each person who registers authorizes future communications, including emails regarding the program unless they “opt out” by making an election by email (there is no ability to opt out through the Official Means of Registering). For those who opt out, Synovus will attempt to contact each person by phone; if no phone number is provided, the customer will forfeit the reward.

Posting: Debit card purchases do not always post to your account the same day you use your card or otherwise authorize a purchase. The timing of when a purchase posts depends largely upon the merchant. “Pending” transactions are not counted. You may use Online Banking and/or Mobile Banking to track when purchases post. Purchases also include payments made using your debit card number, but not ATM transactions.

Other Conditions and Limitations:

  • All of Referrers’ Synovus accounts and loans must be in good standing (as determined by Synovus Bank in its sole discretion) for the period during which the Reward is pending in order to receive the Reward.
  • This offer may end or be changed without notice.
  • Determination of eligibility of the Referrer and the Referred Person as well as completion of the requirements to receive a Reward is determined solely by the records of Synovus Bank.
  • Synovus Bank reserves the right to void referrals and Rewards if we suspect that they were earned in a fraudulent manner, in a manner that violates the terms of this offer, or in a manner not otherwise intended by Synovus Bank.
  • Referrer agrees that she/he will not participate in this offer in a fraudulent, offensive, defamatory, or illegal manner.
  • By participating in this offer both the Referrer and the Referred Person each waives all right of privacy and confidentiality relating to their status as a Synovus Bank customer, and releases Synovus Bank and its employees from all liability in this respect.
  • The Referred Person authorizes Synovus Bank to disclose their offer status to the Referrer.
  • By participating in this offer both the Referrer and the Referred Person agrees that Synovus Bank will have no liability and that each will indemnify and hold Synovus Bank harmless for any claim, action, liability, loss, injury, or damage to them or any other person or entity due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by reason of their participating in this offer.
