How to Conduct Bank Business Safely
Synovus takes the security of its customers very seriously, whether it be online or in person. However, there are a few things you can do to increase your chances of having a successful visit to one of our branches. When engaging with one of our branches:
Stay alert and stay in tune with your surroundings. Look out for suspicious people. Do not leave items in your vehicle, especially in plain sight. Do not text or take phone calls while sitting in the parking lot. It’s best to do your business and get in and out.
Lock your doors and keep your keys in your hand, even if you are just going to the ATM quickly. This leaves enough time and opportunity for a criminal.
Vary your schedule when visiting a branch, especially to make deposits. Thieves love predictable schedules, and it makes you an easier target. Don’t advertise out loud to others when you are making deposits. You never know who could overhear you.
Make frequent deposits. The more frequent your deposits, the less cash you have on hand at any given time. Don’t store currency at your place of business that is not needed for daily operations.
Use the drive-through to your advantage. Synovus can conduct a variety of transactions through the drive-through. You can also utilize drive-up night drop services. Not sure what transactions you can conduct in the branch drive thru? Ask your branch team member.
Use non-descript containers when carrying currency. Try carrying your currency to and from your business or to and from the bank in a laptop bag or briefcase, and not a cash envelope.
Prepare before your visit. Have your account number, deposit slip or loan coupon ready before entering the bank, and any other additional paperwork or materials you might need to do your bank business.
Report something suspicious to law enforcement. If you see something that makes you uncomfortable, report it.
You can also log on to My Synovus 24/7 to do a variety of transactions, including deposits, bill pay, transfers, and more.
