Meet our team in Phenix City
Wade Burford
Market President
In 1977, Wade started his career at CB&T as a part-time teller. After progressing to branch manager, he moved into commercial banking and eventually headed our BankCard, Commercial Lending/Commercial Services, Small Business Banking and Card Services divisions. Along the way, Wade became the only Synovus team member to receive two of our prestigious Chairman’s Awards: the James H. Blanchard Leadership Award, for individuals who demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills like teamwork, communications and coaching in corporate, departmental and community roles; and the William B. Turner Humanitarian Award, for commitment to serve individuals and the community. Wade has also received the Thomas Y. Whitley Award, the highest award given to alumni of Columbus State University.

Will Thompson
Senior VP, Commercial Banking Manager
A native of Columbus, Will has been with Synovus Bank since 1999. Starting on the ground floor as a teller, he transitioned into financial analysis in Synovus’ Family Asset Management Group. He has also served as a credit analyst and a commercial banker, and in 2010 was named commercial banking manager. Will has considerable experience in developing financial solutions for our business and commercial customers’ needs. Outside the office, he’s actively involved in helping the community thrive.

Eddie Lowe
Senior VP
Business Development Manager
CB&T of East Alabama
Eddie is the only Synovus banker, as far as we know, who not only has played football for legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, but also is the mayor of the city where his bank is headquartered. A Phenix City native, Eddie began his banking career during school summer vacations. While working on a degree in finance at the University of Alabama, he became the permanent captain of Coach Bryant’s last football team. He played professionally in the Canadian Football League for nine years before returning to Synovus, where he is now responsible for the operation of our two Phenix City branches. His Honor Eddie Lowe has also been mayor of Phenix City since 2012.
